SPARC is an initiative powered by KITE Research Institute, the research arm of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.

The clinic is led by SPARC Director, Dr. Dinesh Kumbhare, and SPARC Program Manager Maggie Szeto.

Areas of Care

The clinic will be structured into three streams

Stream One
Comprehensive Detailed Pain Assessment

Patients undergo a comprehensive, standardized pain assessment to determine the nature of their chronic pain. The data collected is used by physicians and clinicians to develop a personalized multimodal treatment plan.

Stream Two
Regenerative Medicine Therapies

Patients referred to SPARC for a physician consultation are assessed and the most appropriate treatment is recommended by the physician. The treatments we offer include innovative regenerative medicine therapies such as orthobiologics, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and nSTRIDE injections.

Stream Three
Comprehensive Pain Management

Patients referred to SPARC for comprehensive pain management services are assessed and treated by an interdisciplinary health care team of physicians, nurses, chiropractors, kinesiologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, psychotherapists, and occupational therapists. An individualized treatment plan is developed using a holistic biopsychosocial approach to therapy. Depending upon their specific needs, patients will have access to kinesiology rehabilitation and exercise, chiropractic, occupational therapy, psychology, social work services, pharmacological management and more. SPARC collaborates with other clinical departments across UHN to deliver this patient-centered care.
